After doubling the hill and leaving 2 cars behind, the now 9 car Sand Man has a short easy run before the 2% ruling down hill grade to Hayfield
The 2% grade east out of Gainsboro and the 11 loaded sand cars become to much for this GP9 and the train stalls here.
The Sand Man rounds the base of Great North Mountain into Gainsboro to begin the short 1 mile 2% ruling grade east towards Hayfield.
